What YOU can do to reduce nuisance mosquitoes

Fight the bite

Avoid mosquitoes by staying indoors at dawn and dusk when they are most active. Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants outdoors if possible. Use insect repellent and follow directions.  A link to repellents recommended by Consumer Reports can be found HERE.

Check your yard

Mosquitoes need still water to lay their eggs, which develop in about 7-10 days.  Eliminate standing water weekly to help keep mosquitoes from breeding in the first place.

Thanks to all the residents who have called the hotline, filled out the survey, and given us permission to set up light traps on their property.  Your participation helps us understand how adult mosquitos spread, alerts us to  larval hotspots, and provides very  useful feedback.
